Christmas is a time of joy and wonder, love and hope. Everyone, even those of us who know the true meaning of Christmas, can get caught up in the hustle and bustle of decorating our homes the prettiest, spending money trying to buy the perfect gifts to give, and getting what we
want for Christmas. But not many people realize the importance of this
Awesome season. It was during this time that our dear Savior was born in the humble little town of Bethlehem in a stable, his first bed being a bed of hay in a lowly manger. He was the greatest gift ever given to the world! But when Christ was given to the world by God not many wanted to accept him at all, some who were even waiting for a Savior whom they knew God would send, didn't even acknowledge him later on. Herod in all his pride and kingly glory set out to destroy anything or anyone whom dared to threaten his power. Having every baby boy of Bethlehem killed all in the name of power, position, and greed. But what Herod didn't know was that God had bigger plans for his one and only Son, Jesus. Jesus was sent to save the world, to give God's children hope and salvation. Although Jesus was sent as the Savior of the world that didn't mean that He would be accepted by it. Even after Mary and Joseph and baby Jesus had escaped from the wrath of Herod, Jesus in his later years was still to be rejected. After performing great miracles and speaking of God's great love for humanity some of the people still looked at him with disbelief.
Then as Jesus was put to trial for doing only what he was sent to do, his own people condemned him to death. But still, as hard as it is to believe, this was all in God's plans-to save his children. As he suffered on the cross he held on his shoulders the weight of all of the worlds sins. This was God's plan- to sacrifice his Son for our souls! This season is a season of rejoicing, it was the time when the Savior of the world came to be, to give us hope! But after this great sacrifice was made the gift to us was not over; on the third day Christ rose again to give us hope that we may not be in mourning over the Lord, because it was for us for we were made new!
I hope this message will encourage and give you a new hope about this Christmas season.
Merry Christmas!!
